Fly the flag of freedom!
We are currently slap bang in the middle of rehearsals for our 2014 production of Michael Collins – A Musical Drama. With just six weeks until opening night, this show's powerful and emotional music can be heard echoing around the corridors of St. Kieran's college, O'Faolain's of John Street and the Watergate theatre! Under the expert baton of Wexford man Patrick Clancy as MD, our talented members are belting out the battle cries of the 1916 rising, the treaty debate and sure there's even a charming waltz in the ballrooms of Longford to be danced!
Meanwhile our director Christine Scarry, her trusty-side kick George (!) and choreographer Gemma Grant are hard at work sculpting a representation of one of the most iconic stories in Ireland's volatile history for Kilkenny theatre fans. Michael Hayes, Eoghan Fingleton and Ciaran Dunphy have no small task on their hands depicting three of the key players in Ireland's fight for freedom; Michael Collins, Harry Boland and Eamon de Valera.
We'll have more updates and snapshots from rehearsals between now and opening night! Tickets are selling like hot-cakes so make sure to get booking folks! Box office: 056-7761674 or www.watergatetheatre.com.
